I felt he did a pretty good job at it. The theme was "My face" .I was quite surprised to see how the kids could draw so much. Till then Prathik was just colouring using crayons.After this he started drawing small pictures like fish, boat, cake, balloons, etc.,

By the end of November we had a costume day at Prathik's school. Prathiks dressed up as 'Dracula' .
It was Dracula costume but, he didnt like the name, so called himself as a ' Black Cat'.No w I absolutely dont have any idea from where he got that idea..:)

Prathik's gift from Santa

During the Christmas holidays, Prathik talked a lot about Santa. He got the christmas spirit from school, with the trees, chocolates, santa and the jingle bells songs. Apart from that he watched a lot of christmas episodes from Mickey, Peppapig, Caillou and Thomas his favourite shows.

So everyday before going to sleep he started asking for a gift to Santa. I broke into laughter everytime he said that but mange to control it somehow, as I did not want to change the way he said that.

It goes like this " Christmas thatha, Chrismas thatha , enaku oru big fire engine kudu " :)

We searched a few shops to get the toy he wanted. It was such fun to see the expression in his face when he saw the toy neatly packed and kept under the fire place.

Acting like a Big Boy

We took a stroll to the near by park couple of weeks back.The weather was slightly chill.
All the way Prathik wanted to walk all by himself without holding hands.It was nice to watch him walk a few feet ahead of us, with two hands in his pocket, which made us both realise that he is growing up fast and he is nomore a baby.

We both made some sand castles at the park..

There's a caterpillar like ride in this park and he loves to play in it. Hence he calls this park as 'Poochi park'.

First day of school..

Prathik's first day of school was an unforgettable experience in my life.We have been preparing for this day, the entire month, and he was quite happy to get ready that day.
He got up early, took bath , ate breakfast, prayed for 2 mins and was all set. He was happy to wear is new 'cars' bag and was chattering all the way to school. The school is just a 10 min walk from our home.

When we entered the school, he said hello to everyone and was happy to see the play area and the other kids. But the moment I said 'Bye Prathik', he started slowly and then screamed his heart out.

It was a heart breaking moment for me as I had to leave him crying. Iam sure all the mothers would have had this moment in life, either in a day care or at pre-school.

Tears rolled down my eyes as I walked back home.Reached home dialled Arul's number and started crying for about 5 mins, after which I was ok .Then I called up my Amma and in-laws gave a quick update, called up couple of my local friends and shared my experience. After that just sat Idle for 2 hrs just watching the clock tick, waiting for it to reach 12.

When I went to pick him up that day, I was surprised to see a happy face (quite opposite to what I was expecting ) explaining to me what he did in school. The teacher said " those tears were just for you mommy" .

The crying saga continued for a week (not me :) ), and then he became alright, started saying goodbye with happy smile on his face.

The place we stayed in Austria was inside the Glocbuckner (Frusch area) National forest - The lamhausel hotel.It was excellent and the ambience was too good.

Fresh early morning start to the trip.Myself and Aswini took the boys for a stroll just opposite to the place where we stayed.It was calm and serene and views still fresh in my mind.we could literally see the clouds passing through the Road.It was an unforgettable exeperince which I will cherish.

Prathik and Vinay were very excited to see the horses and the pony's.
As it started drizzling we had to get back to the car , with few snaps and also to the impatient partners :) who were waiting for us to start the trip early.

Vinay and Prathik had a very nice time , throwing stones at the lake, whereas their parents were very busy taking pictures of the beautiful views.

Pictures from the top of the Glocbuckener National forest , surrounded by Snow clad Alps. We couldnt reach the top as the weather was very bad , and we were completly covered in clouds as we drived up the mountain. But this viewpoint was just 2 bend short to the top, and it was all worth it.

As we drived down a couple of Km we reached this scenic spot of meadows overlooked by the snow clad montains absolutly gorgeous

There was a boat race in the grand canal, on the day we visited Venice.It was interesting and fun to watch all the multicolured canoes, and the people cheering for their respective groups.

We had a TCS New year party last saturday, we were asked to dress up the kids for a Fancy dress event...With Prathik we thought its impossible to make him wear any dress and dropped the idea totally. But at the last moment decided to try out a simple dresing like Nehru.We had his Birthday dress and we just had to make a Cap.So in the morning his father made a beautiful cap and cut a plastic rose from the vase.We are all set.
But when the moment came, as expected Prathik gave us the hard(est) time refusing to wear the cap, throwing it away, and crying at the mere sight of it.

Celebrating Deepavali - 2009

We celebrated Deepavali (2009) here in belgium.It was a simple celebration though we missed fire crackers a lot. I made some Murrukku's , ladoo and suiyam and made pooja in the morning.Prathik liked the ladoos very much.

Made some pizza at home.We had invited some friends over to stay, and had a good time.We planned to see the fireworks at midnight, so by 11.30 made the kids ready(packed them with winter clothes) and got ourselves ready.We were at the spot by 11.55, but Unfortunatly the venue of the fireworks had been shifted to another place this year.Though there was a little bit of disppointment , we enjoyed a nice walk around the centrum, and saw some individual fireworks by groups of people at many places.
Prathik and Diya were very happy seeing the colourful lights in the sky.We came back home and celebrated the New Year with a homemade Cake.The Kids enjoyed blowing and cutting the cake.It was memorable evening and we went to bed by 2.00am.

Its been quite a long time since I posted anything in this blog...I have piles and piles of pictures to upload...I wanted to do some scrape book in Smilebox and then post the pictures, since its a huge effort, I have been procastinating it totally.

Now I have dropped that idea and have decided that some simple collages of the pictures will do.Here is the first collage I made for this year..

Trip to Keukenhoff, Tulip gardens Amsterdam

Its been three weeks since I returned from India, and I have loads of photographs waiting to be posted in 'Prathik's page' and lots of stories to go with it, but still havent got the time to do it.April is always Tulip time for us. Every year we never fail visit the near by tulip gardens wherever we are posted. The bright coloured tulips in full bloom is such wonderful sight to see.Luckily this year we are in Belgium very near to Amsterdam the Tulip garden of the world.Last weekend we visited the tulip gardens in keukenhoff , Amsterdam. The garden was very big and neatly arranged.The only sad part of it is that we missed the fields by one week as they were cultivated a bit early this year .Prathik had a very nice time running around the flowers and we got some nice pictures too.But we had a very hard time making him sit in the car seat.This was his first long trip by car outside India. After a while he got used to it and slept all the way.I made some collages out of the pictures and wanted to post it immediatly before I get lazy and forget all about it.

We are having a vacation in chennai now. All this time Prathik was walking only on his knees which worried us a lot.We were trying all techniques and tools to make Prathik walk.But he was relectant to even give a try. He was very comfortable walking on his knees. My MIL's huge effort of taking and cleaning the 'nadaivandi' from the paran all went in vain. But suddenly one fine evening, when we were relaxing in my mom's place and when nobody's noticing, he started getting up and walk on his own. Probably he was motivated by seeing all the other kutties(my sisters kids) walking.It was an overwhelming moment for me.

Finally he reached his important milestone in his life and Iam proud of him.

He is going for a walk everyday with his thatha and patti and enjoying his time in chennai

Its been almost a month since we celebrated our little ones birthday.
My work has been keeping me very busy nowadays , so that both my blogs have been totally neglected.Today I thought its high time to update Prathik's pictures , so squeezed some time out of my hectic schedule to do that.

We had a nice birthday celebration.Actually we celebrated his birthday three times.
Friday morning Prathik had a nice time cutting cake, with is friends at the creeche.
Evening we celebrated with close friends, witha special pineapple cake made by me.
And then on saturday, we had party for his birthday.All these time, prathik was in a very good mood, cooperated well and enjoyed his time with everyone.

Trip to Brugge and Prathik crawling for the first time

Monday (long weekend) we went on our first long trip with Prathik to Brugge.
Brugge is small Belgian town on the banks of a river. I would say its a mini Venice. It was an hour journey by train and Prathik co-operated well. But by the middle of the day, he wanted to get away from the stroller, and move on his knees. The weather was absolutely opposite to what was predicted, rainy and cold.We managed to get a covered park like place and allowed him to crawl for a while. After sometime he was alright and enjoyed the boat ride and the whole trip. I loved window shopping and it was raining chocolates there.
On the way home on the train he tried to get along with the kids in the train by smiling at them and wanting to play with them.
As soon as we entered home and left him on the floor he started crawling on his knees for the first time. For the first timer he was pretty fast as if he has been crawling for ages.He was so happy and was showing off his new trick to Amma and Appa trying to get some applause.Will post the pictures and video later.

Yesterday Prathik tried to stand all by himself.He is very ambitious trying to get on the sofa also by lifting his leg.Watch the video and pictures.

It seems like yesterday when my son was born, but its already 10 months now. He was born on Sep 12 the 2007. Prathik's journey to this world was a pretty complicated one for both myself and him. Few years back we didn't even think that we would be parents, but thanks to Dr Kamala Selvaraj (GG Hospital)and Dr Priya Selvaraj that we are enjoying a beautiful Son who is the whole world to us now. Hats off to their hard work bringing miracles into thousands of lives.
Time is running so fast and Prathik has started crawling. His first milestone (cruising)was little bit late (in 9 months).He started doing things in his own pace.Though he keeps us busy all the time, both love playing with him and enjoy every moment with him.We don't want to forget every single moment of it. So I thought its to write down his naughty activities, record his milestones and capture(click) his funny gestures,this way we will remember every worthwhile moment with him and laugh at reading those when we are old.

Gone are those good old diary days, but thanks to technology now we have the blogging world. Hence decided to start a blog just for Prathik, and its also a great way to put into use those hundreds of pictures and videos that we click on him.:) Iam not sure if I can keep up with both my blogs , but I will make sure to update Prathik's page as and when time permits.
